Anti-Ballast Rush: Become a Citizen in 42 Clicks
by Sandy, June 6 2005

If you are a subscriber it is possible to become a citizen (ie. pay the king 1,000,000 silver) in only 42 clicks. (If you aren't a subscriber, see the second portion of this article for the steps required to become a citizen in 53 clicks.)

Note before beginning: To make this work realistically, you will require a benefactor with at least 1.4 million silvers who is willing to purchase outrageously priced items from your character. With that in mind, create a new character and assign the attributes in any way you want, then follow the steps below. The number on the left is the click counter.

1.
The click sum counter starts at 1, meaning your first click is "spent" getting into your home where you start the game.
2.
Pick up your spare weapon (either a spear or a dwarf pickaxe) from your home, leave the 30 silvers there (thanks Jason!).
3.
Exit your home.
4-5.
Travel to the market. Two is the minimum possible number of steps required to move from a novice quarter home to the market. If all novice quarter squares are considered equally when assigning a house to your new character, you only have a 1/7 chance of getting the house that is within two steps of the market. Further, you have a 2/7 chance of getting a house within 3 steps, a 2/7 chance of 4 steps, a 1/7 chance of 5 steps, and a 1/7 of 6 steps. Since this post is discussing the absolute minimum number of clicks required, I will presume the best case scenario of two steps.
6.
Enter the market.
7.
List your spare weapon on the market for 960 (spear) or 1,200 (dwarf pickaxe) and have your benefactor buy it.
8.
Pick up your silvers from the market.
9.
Buy something which is listed at 50% for 960 (spear) or 1,200 (dwarf pickaxe).
10.
List it on the market for 57,000 (spear) or 72,000 (dwarf pickaxe) and have your benefactor buy it.
11.
Pick up your money from the market.
12.
Buy something which is listed at 50% for 57,000 (spear) or 72,000 (dwarf pickaxe).
13.
List it on the market for at least 1,323,530, and have your benefactor buy it. Notice that you could sell it for much more: 3,456,000 (spear) or 4,320,000 (dwarf pickaxe). These amounts are obviously significantly more than what is required to pay off the king. The point is that you have a fair amount of wiggle room when buying and selling. You don't always have to buy at 50% and sell at 3000%.
14.
Transfer all your money from the market to the bank using the Sherpa service (thanks alpie!).
15.
Exit the market.
16.
Move to the city center.
17.
Enter the bank.
18-42.
Pay off the king.

Note before beginning: To make this work realistically, you will require a benefactor with at least 1.4 million silvers who is willing to purchase outrageously priced items from your character. With that in mind, first you have to create your character correctly. You will have to be able to carry at least one half of 1,250,000 silver in addition to your starting gear. 1,250,000 silver is what it takes to pay off the king, and you'll carry it all from the market to the bank in two trips. To be able to carry 625,000 silvers (which weighs 62.5kg) in addition to what you have left of your starting gear (which will weigh 3kg), you will need a combined Stength and Persistance of 16. This means you have to put ALL of your new character's attribute points into Strength and Persistance. Fail to do that, and you're making extra trips between the market and the bank at a cost of 8 extra clicks per trip.

1.
The click sum counter starts at 1, meaning your first click is "spent" getting into your home where you start the game.
2.
Click the "put worn items into your backpack" button.
3.
Move your axe from your backpack into your home. This will leave you carrying a leather helmet and a leather shield.
4.
Pick up your spare weapon (either a spear or a dwarf pickaxe) from your home (thanks Jason!).
5.
Exit your home.

These amounts are obviously significantly more than what is required to pay off the king. The point is that you have a fair amount of wiggle room when buying and selling.
