E: Monsters

50: How can I beat the goblin regiment?

Mission 11 is the first time you will encounter an "invincible" monster in a mission scenario. From this point onwards, most missions will have certain monsters that will be undefeatable to most characters. The good thing is that these monsters don't have to be beaten in order to complete the mission, you can go around them or avoid them altogether. Use the mission maps to guide you through.

51: Why does my magic not damage some monsters?

Some monsters have a natural magic resistance and you may have to level up your magic skill to damage them.

52: How do I increase my magic skill?

The old fashioned way: practice, practice, and practice. Each use of mana will increase your magic skill percentage towards the next magic skill level by a small amount.

53: How do I improve my magic?

When you see the "+1 magic skill message" after a combat, go to any Mage Tower and click each of the spell types to upgrade your attack spells. Provided you have the silvers on hand to cover the costs of this training, you will learn the next level in each of the four attack spell types and your spells will become more effective in combat. Always upgrade all four spell types as soon as you can, since different monsters are weaker to different types of spells.

54: Why do some monsters hit me twice in one round?

In the same way that all characters have six attributes, so do monsters. If a monster's quickness is sufficiently higher than yours, it will hit first in a fight, and could "double hit" you in an attack round. The general formula used to avoid this is to keep your quickness at (level / 1.5) +3. This is not a fool-proof method, but it will keep you safe from double hits the majority of the time. Also remember that the paralysis calamity lowers your quickness which could lead to unexpected double hits.

55: Why can't I damage some monsters?

Where would the fun be if you could kill everything you met straight off? You may need to level up your character and/or your weapons before being able to kill some monsters. Some monsters are labeled as "tough" in the monster section on this site, and in later levels a good indicator of a tough monster is usually that it has far fewer hitpoints than other monsters of its level.

56: How do I stop monsters draining mana from my mage?

You can't. Mana draining monsters are a fact of life in Larkinor.

57: Why am I being attacked by monsters much stronger than me?

Regardless of your rank setting, you will see the same groups of monsters at each level as everyone else does. Some characters are better at beating certain types of monsters than others. Some monsters will be just too strong to be defeated the first time you meet them. Try again after you level up.

58: What does "Rank" do?

The different rank settings determine how often you see "top end monsters" on your level. For example, a god-ranked character will see far more "tough" monsters than a shy-ranked character. Rank also plays a determining factor in your ability to attack other characters, being attacked by other characters, as well as your likelihood and frequency of being stolen from.
